The US Capitol Police are investigating the role of 35 officers during the January 6 riots
The Police Department said in a statement Friday that 35 Capitol Police officers are under investigation for their actions during the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, and six of them have been suspended for pay.
"Acting Yogananda Pittman has ordered that any member of her department whose behavior does not comply with the department's code of conduct will face appropriate discipline," said Police Department spokesman John Stolnis.
A committee of the US House of Representatives scheduled a February 25 hearing to investigate security breaches of the Capitol Building for January 6. Pitman and Acting Army's Sergeant Timothy Blodgett are due to testify.
Investigators were investigating the Capitol police officers' response and whether any of the officers had helped the rioters, according to Congressional aides and some lawmakers.
