Ted Cruz retracts 'terrorist attack' statement from Jan. 6

Senator Cruz (R-Texas) has retracted a remark from earlier this month in which he called the Jan. 6 rally a "violent terrorist attack."

"We are nearing a tragic milestone this week," Cruz began his brief statement. It's the one-year anniversary of a terrible terrorist attack on the Capitol, during which law enforcement officers displayed amazing heroism, bravery, and risked their lives to protect the men and women who serve in this building."

Cruz added, “Anyone who commits an act of violence should be prosecuted, and anyone who assaults a law enforcement officer should go to jail for a very long time.”

“I’m so done with Ted Cruz,” wrote Sebastian Gorka, a former deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, on Twitter.
