President Biden defended his decision to remove American troops from Afghanistan in a speech on Monday. He did acknowledge, though, that the Afghan government collapsed more rapidly than predicted, implying a lack of fighting spirit on their part.

Sen. Bob Menendez, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, highlighted his displeasure with the happenings in Afghanistan in a statement on Tuesday, vowing to call a session on US strategy toward the country.
