Republicans from Wisconsin say thousands of voter identification laws
Republicans in Wisconsin say thousands of voters have circumvented the identification laws by claiming they are "bound indefinitely" and demanding the absentee ballot, according to the Washington Examiner.
Wisconsin law allows the voter to self-report being a home resident due to age, illness, or disability, allowing them to receive ballots by mail as long as the witness signs. The number of constricted voters has increased dramatically during the coronavirus pandemic, from around 72,000 in 2019 to around 243,000 in 2020.
"At what stage does it become a scam?" An unidentified Republican official asked the examiner in an interview. "I think it turned into a scam in April when people registered themselves as being tied up indefinitely when they weren't. That was only allowed to continue and get worse."
