NY Governor Cuomo and Dr. Fauci Warn of ‘Dark Time’ in January 2021

Anthony Fauci appeared by default at New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's briefing Monday, as men discouraged small gatherings during the Christmas season, prompting Fauci to warn that America could be in a "dark time" in January.

"We estimate that 70 percent of the prevalence comes from small gatherings, and that's a problem," said Cuomo, who has banned gatherings of more than 10 in his state.

"We are going through the Christmas season. I think there will be more small meetings. I was talking until I was sad about what seemed to be the security at home. The apparent security of being with your family, which can be misleading."

Cuomo reiterated, as he had done in previous press conferences, that one's living room "is not a safe area". He declared that the guidance on small gatherings is not a political statement, citing the clear agreement between entities such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Joe Biden advisers.
