Hurricane Delta leaves Louisiana reeling and without electricity as the cleanup begins

Weakened Louisiana coast residents began cleaning upwind and water damage from Hurricane Delta on Saturday in their area already struck by the storm, even as it weakened and moved northeast.

The Delta made landfall near the town of Creole in Cameron Parish on Friday night as a Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, with sustained winds of 100 mph.

Although not as strong as Hurricane Laura in August, a Category 4 storm that devastated homes and businesses, the Delta knocked down trees and electricity poles, leaving hundreds of thousands of Gulf Coast residents without electricity.
