17 Ethiopians killed in Drone attack after Biden-Abiy phone call

According to local officials, an Ethiopian drone strike killed 17 civilians in the country's Tigray area on the same day that President Joe Biden indicated alarm about such assaults in the continuing war during a phone chat with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The majority of people killed in the Monday drone attack in Mai Tsebri, according to a report by the zonal administration, were women working at a flour-grinding factory, a person familiar with the study told The Associated Press. Because they were not permitted to speak to the press about it, the person spoke on the condition of anonymity.

A spokesman for Ethiopia’s government and military didn’t respond to questions about Monday’s drone strike.

The White House said Biden raised to Abiy the airstrikes that continue to cause civilian casualties and suffering in Africa’s second-most populous nation.
